What is Eyelid Surgery?
If you've noticed excess upper eyelid skin and puffy bags under your eyes, it may be time to consider eyelid surgery. Not only can these facial imperfections make you look old and tired, but they may often lead to vision problems as well. Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is the removal of excess skin and fat pads, which works to give you back that youthful, rejuvenated look you've been yearning for.
If you'd like to discuss eyelid surgery costs or you just want some more information on the procedure, please give us a call today.
How is Eyelid Surgery Performed?
Eyelid surgery is generally separated into two categories – upper eyelid surgery and lower eyelid surgery – or both. For the upper eyelids, an incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid with the excess skin and fat being removed.
In lower eyelid surgery, on the other hand, the incision is made either at the lash line or inside the eyelids and excess fat is removed from that portion of the eye. This surgery works to improve under-eye puffiness. Both types of eyelid surgery are performed using local or general anesthesia.
Am I a Good Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?
Most of our patients in Las Vegas, Henderson, Paradise and the surrounding areas are over the age of 50. However, if you are unhappy with the look of your aging eyes, we can help you – regardless of your age. This surgery is also beneficial for both men and women. So, if you're tired of bags, excessive wrinkles or excess skin around the upper or lower eyelids, call us today to learn more about how blepharoplasty can help.
What Kind of Post-Operative Eyelid Surgery Care Can I Expect?
After the procedure, you should apply cold compresses to the eyes to reduce any swelling or bruising. Also, you'll be advised to keep your head elevated at all times, even when you're sleeping. Other normal side effects include tearing, blurred vision and sensitivity to light, which should dissipate within a few weeks.
For best results, stay out of the sun and refrain from wearing makeup or contact lenses following the procedure for at least two weeks. You'll be prescribed eye drops to treat any itching, burning or dryness, and your doctor will go over specific instructions on how to properly care for your eyes. Finally, refrain from driving until your vision has completely returned to normal, and do not participate in any strenuous physical activity for at least a month.
What are the Typical Results of Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery can turn aged, tired-looking eyes into bright, youthful and refreshed ones. You'll be able to say goodbye to bags, puffiness and wrinkles and say hello to the glowing, younger-looking reflection in the mirror.
